The Santarelli glyptic collection contains almost six hundred works including cameos, carvings, seals and small chalcedony sculptures, spanning five millennia. This minute art has been identified as an iconographic compendium to the great art of sculpture. The collection was exhibited for ten years in the same rooms of the Capitoline Museums where the coloured marbles of imperial Rome are now displayed.
