The Antikenmuseum Basel presented (4 June 2014-19 January 2015), the exhibition Roma Eterna. 2000 Years of Sculpture from the Santarelli and Zeri Collections. The exhibition, curated by Tomas Lochman, curator of the Antikenmuseum, presented for the first time in Switzerland seventy-four sculptures from the Italian collections of the Santarelli Foundation and the art critic and historian Federico Zeri: from the Roman Empire to Neoclassicism, from the Middle Ages to the Baroque, from the Greek world to the Renaissance, where techniques, materials, styles and themes dialogue around the human figure. The exhibition route has not followed a chronological order, but has placed the works according to their thematic, formal and stylistic characteristics.
Divided into four different rooms, imitating the private rooms and reception spaces of an ideal palace or a Roman villa, the works on display intertwined in dialogue with each other, emphasising their timeless character.
